Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Engineering program student to join the Hardware Quality and Life Cycle Management team working on Ciena's Packet Optical platform products.

As a Hardware Design Co-Op, you will be responsible for reviewing alternate components for 2nd source qualification and obsolescence, executing hardware verification plans, debugging prototype hardware using test equipment, and modifying circuit packs to enable testing or to fix issues uncovered during testing.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review alternate components for 2nd source qualification and obsolescence
  • Execute hardware verification plans and debug prototype hardware using test equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic/network analyzers, protocol/signal generators etc.
  • Debug and support hardware investigations of field issues
  • Modify circuit packs to enable testing or to fix issues uncovered during testing
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A strong understanding of electrical engineering principles and concepts
  • Familiarity with lab test equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers and test sets) and measurement techniques would be beneficial
  • Understanding of high speed signaling, transmission lines, digital and analog design
