Community Outreach Worker

The Halifax Regional Centre for Education (HRCE) is seeking a Community Outreach Worker to join our team. As a Community Outreach Worker, you will play a vital role in connecting families and community groups to support student success.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop a proactive approach to connecting families and community groups to facilitate support and services to students.
  • Establish an active network of community groups representing the diverse nature of the community and build bridges to connect families and schools.
  • Work collaboratively with Principals and other staff to ensure effective connections and communication exist between the school, the families, and other appropriate community agencies.
Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate degree in Social Sciences or equivalent through a combination of experience and a relevant Diploma/Certificate from a recognized community college.
  • Minimum three (3) years successful experience working with students and their families.
  • Direct knowledge and experience of communities served considered an asset.
  • Valid Nova Scotia drivers license and reliable vehicle.

This is a 12-month per year CUPE position with a starting annual salary of $2,003.31 paid every two weeks. Salary is based on a six (6) step scale with step increases occurring annually in accordance with the Collective Agreement.
