About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Legal Secretary III to join our team at TD Insurance. As a key member of our legal department, you will provide administrative support to our lawyers and play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our legal affairs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and edit complex legal documents, including correspondence, factums, and motions.
  • Draft standard legal documents and correspondence for review by lawyers.
  • Exercise initiative and judgment in the absence of lawyers, including negotiating extensions of time and prioritizing and responding to diverse incoming communications.
  • Manage lawyers' calendars, schedule appointments, and coordinate appearances.
  • Answer a wide range of telephone inquiries based on knowledge of cases and respond to inquiries exercising good judgment and discretion.
  • Compose complex correspondence and establish, maintain, and revise lawyers' files.
  • Perform research, review, and prepare documents in accordance with project objectives and in consultation with lawyers, law clerks, or legal office managers.
  • Provide training to legal assistants and answer technical questions.
  • Exercise initiative to propose, develop, and maintain standard office precedents and procedures.
Requirements
  • College diploma in legal secretarial and 5+ years of litigation experience.
  • Ability to proof and edit legal documents.
  • Motivated self-starter with capability to work productively under pressure.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and client service skills, professional and positive demeanor.
  • Superior organization and priority setting skills, strong work ethic, and ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to be conceptual and a creative problem-solving skills.
  • Intermediate MS Office skills; knowledge of standard office equipment and word processing.
