Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Strategic Communications Director to join our team at Weizmann Canada. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing a national brand strategy and communications plan that showcases the organization's mission and values.

The ideal candidate will have significant experience in brand strategy, communications, and/or public relations, including some experience in the not-for-profit environment. They will possess excellent writing and communication skills, as well as the ability to adapt their communication style to various audiences.

About the Role

This is a full-time/hybrid position located in either Montreal or Toronto. The successful candidate will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer or Chief Operating Officer (TBC) and will be responsible for leading all national brand strategy and communication efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Brand Strategy: Develop and implement a strategic national brand strategy and communications plan that aligns with the organization's mission and values.
  • Communication Planning: Create and execute a comprehensive communication plan that includes traditional and digital channels to increase awareness, promote science literacy, drive engagement, and increase donations.
  • Leadership: Demonstrate sound judgment and decision-making skills, lead by example, and foster a productive work environment.
  • Donor Service: Provide prompt and positive service to internal and external donors, demonstrating commitment to increasing donor satisfaction.
  • Initiative: Look for opportunities to improve the workplace and recommend needed change in a timely manner.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Education: University degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a relevant field or a combination of education and experience.
  • Experience: Significant experience (7+ years) in brand strategy, communications, and/or public relations, including some experience in the not-for-profit environment.
  • Skills: Excellent writing and communication skills, ability to adapt communication style to various audiences, knowledge of Canadian news media publications, and experience creating campaigns and messaging for social media platforms.

Estimated Salary Range: $90,000 - $110,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
