About the Role

The Halton District School Board is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Educational Support Specialist to join our team as a Supply Educational Assistant. This is a unique opportunity to work with students of various ages and abilities, providing support and promoting independence in a dynamic and inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist students with lessons and activities, promoting academic success and social growth.
  • Support students with special needs, including those with physical, emotional, or cognitive disabilities.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and other educational staff to develop and implement individualized support plans.
  • Provide assistance with daily living skills, such as toileting and personal hygiene.
  • Maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with teachers, parents, and other stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Community College Diploma in Educational Support, Educational Assistant, or related field of study.
  • At least six months of experience working with children with diverse needs and abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and parents.
  • Physical ability to perform the demands of the position, with the ability to lift, bend, and move students as needed.
