Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced Pre-construction Director to join our Building Operations team at Pomerleau Construction. As a key member of our leadership team, you will play a crucial role in supporting new and ongoing project growth, driving innovation, and challenging industry standards with your trade-driven expertise and knowledge.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the overall preconstruction process, including bidding, cost estimates, budget analysis, and support for proposals.
• Foster open communication regarding project status and updates.
• Collaborate with and provide valuable estimating expertise to other members of the leadership team.
• Support the business development process and lead the selection of opportunities for the Toronto Region to pursue.
• Lead external and internal presentations of proposals and estimates.
• Utilize research skills to identify project-specific prices related to key items, including labour, equipment, and materials.
• Accurately interpret technical specifications for bid documents with attention to detail.
• Review project business plans with internal stakeholders to ensure profitability.
• Assist with the full cycle estimating process and provide a comprehensive review of final estimates.
• Identify project risks and manage them effectively.
• Maintain strong relationships with trade partners, consultants, and clients to achieve project goals and vision.
• Encourage innovation and creative problem-solving within the team.
• Foster a culture of excellence, encourage professional development, and lead by example.
• Create a learning environment and share knowledge throughout the estimation process.
• Celebrate successes and participate in the project ramp-up process.

Requirements:

• 10+ years of relevant experience estimating in the ICI construction industry.
• 5+ years of relevant management experience.
• A University Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Engineering or a combination of education and industry experience.
• A proven track record of estimate/bid management, team collaboration, and management.
• Ability to bid projects in excess of $500M in multiple formats, including Lump Sum, CM, Design Build, and Progressive.
• Experience in the pursuit of P3 projects with a proven track record of success.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• A passion for building relationships.
• Strong computer skills with estimation software and an enthusiasm for innovation.
• Knowledge of the market.
