Job Summary

Zurich Insurance Company Ltd. is seeking a highly skilled Technical Underwriter to join our team. As a Technical Underwriter, you will play a critical role in providing technical underwriting expertise and guidance to our Business Units and Underwriters. You will act independently and with minimal direction, serving as a Subject Matter Expert in all aspects of a line of business or product line.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operationalize Underwriting Business Strategy: Engage with internal and external stakeholders to drive decision-making using market and industry data.
  • Lead Due Diligence: Conduct thorough due diligence for auto programs and MGA business, and develop training for front-line underwriters.
  • Implement Risk Appetite Changes: Analyze internal and external data to inform risk appetite changes.
  • Contribute to Technical Standards: Develop and implement technical standards, controls, and practices in line of business or product line.
  • Drive Underwriting Strategies: Collaborate with cross-functional resources to implement underwriting strategies, propositions, and solutions.
  • Monitor Underwriting Performance: Analyze performance metrics, data, and insights to inform underwriting strategy.
  • Operate within Established Policies: Adhere to Zurich Risk Policy, Global Underwriting Policy, and underwriting governance policies.
  • Lead Initiatives: Develop and implement initiatives that impact technical underwriting guidelines and best practices.
  • Provide Expert Guidance: Offer technical underwriting expertise to Business Units Leaders and Underwriters to support business plans and proposition development.
  • Handle Complex Queries: Address complex queries and referrals within delegated authority.
  • Assist with Approval: Assist with approval of terms and conditions and Line of Business-wide issues.
  • Develop Business Plans: Contribute to the development of business plans and pricing strategies.
  • Monitor Portfolio Performance: Analyze portfolio performance and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Enhance Pricing Tools: Develop and implement solutions to enhance Technical Price.
  • Participate in Technical Reviews: Participate in Technical Underwriting Reviews and contribute to the development of action plans.
  • Compliance and Training: Participate in compliance-related queries and develop underwriting technical training content.
Requirements

Required:


  • Bachelor's Degree and 8 or more years of experience in Underwriting
  • OR High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in Underwriting

Preferred:


  • CPCU
  • Advanced knowledge of line/s of business and the legal and regulatory environment
  • Strong listening, verbal, and written communication skills
