Job Title: Urban Forestry Manager

The City of Vancouver is seeking an experienced Urban Forestry Manager to lead the development and implementation of urban forestry policies, standards, and programs. This role will oversee the management of urban forestry operations, including tree pruning, planting, and stump removal, as well as strategic planning and budgeting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement urban forestry policies, standards, and programs
  • Oversee urban forestry operations, including tree pruning, planting, and stump removal
  • Lead strategic planning and budgeting for urban forestry operations
  • Collaborate with senior management and other partners on the implementation of urban forestry initiatives
  • Provide subject matter expertise on horticultural matters
  • Manage and motivate a team of urban forestry professionals
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, combined with relevant management experience
  • Extensive experience in urban forestry management, including budgeting and strategic planning
  • Advanced knowledge of B.C. Statutes, including Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Ability to establish and achieve short and long-term goals
