Position Overview

We are seeking a qualified Urban Forestry Specialist to become a vital part of our Parks Department. This role encompasses a wide range of arboricultural responsibilities, including evaluating tree health, planting, trimming, removal, and managing tree diseases. You will supervise teams and contractors, ensuring that all tasks are executed with the utmost quality and adherence to safety protocols. Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading and coordinating teams in various tree care activities
  • Assessing trees for potential risks and health issues
  • Communicating effectively with the public and stakeholders
  • Keeping detailed records of tree assessments and maintenance
  • Safely operating arboricultural tools and machinery

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a diploma in Horticulture, Arboriculture, or a similar discipline, along with pertinent experience in the field. Essential certifications include Certified Arborist and Tree Risk Assessment Qualification. Experience in a public sector environment is advantageous.
