Job Summary

This role involves providing safety and security services to approximately 700 staff, 252 patients, families, and visitors at Selkirk Mental Health Centre. As a security officer, you will be responsible for ensuring the well-being and safety of individuals on site.

About the Role

This is a dynamic position that requires strong communication and interpersonal skills. The successful candidate will be able to work effectively in a team environment and provide excellent customer service to employees, patients, and visitors. You will also be required to work weekend shifts and holidays as part of a rotational schedule.

Responsibilities
  • Provide safety and security services to ensure the well-being and safety of individuals on site
  • Work collaboratively with other departments to maintain a safe and secure environment
  • Respond to emergencies and incidents in a timely and effective manner
  • Maintain accurate records and reports as required
Requirements
  • Diploma from a recognized education facility for Security Officer Training or equivalent experience
  • Prior security experience an asset
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license
  • Valid Manitoba Security Guard License and/or any future license mandated by Manitoba Justice
  • Certification through the Canadian General Standards Board and/or Manitoba Security Guard Training Standard
  • Clear Adult Abuse Registry Check
Working Conditions

This role involves working in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions and varying temperatures. The successful candidate will be required to wear uniform attire and use security equipment as needed.

Compensation

The estimated annual salary for this position is $62,400-$72,600 based on industry standards and location. Benefits include health and dental coverage, pension plan, and paid time off.
