Job Title: Business Office Assistant

The Salvation Army is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Business Office Assistant to provide administrative and accounting support to the ministry unit. This is a full-time position at 37.5 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Accounting/Finance Administration:
    • Support the Community & Family Services Director in monitoring expenditure against financial budget and reviewing financial reports for accuracy.
    • Receive donations, issue charitable tax receipts, and send acknowledgements.
    • Provide administrative support to the Social Services Trustee Program, submit cheque requests, and conduct client account reviews.
  • Office Administration:
    • File and maintain confidential employee, officer, client, and program files.
    • Process incoming and outgoing mail, and maintain fixed asset inventory lists.
    • Collect certificates of insurance and maintain provincial registration for Salvation Army vehicles.
  • Property Management:
    • Work with the Community & Family Services Director to maintain church, sorting center, CFS, and thrift store facilities.
    • Ensure equipment maintenance and oversee service contracts.
    • Handle rental contracts and ensure CFS safety.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
  • Certificate in Business Administration and/or Finance-accounting.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of related experience in accounting, finance, office administration, and property management.
