About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our team at Homewood Health, a leading provider of mental health and addiction services. As a Registered Nurse on our Mood, Anxiety, Substance Treatment and Recovery Service, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to a collaborative, interdisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide nursing care to patients on the MASTRS/OASIS unit, adhering to CNO standards and RNAO Best Practice Guidelines.
  • Contribute to fluctuating patient care needs, assuming Charge Nurse responsibilities as assigned and directing the work of others.
  • Administer psychiatric and non-psychiatric medications and treatments, ensuring necessary clinical assessments are initiated following admission and at various times.
  • Engage with interdisciplinary teams and individual team members as appropriate, acting as a preceptor, mentor, coach, or resource nurse as needed.
  • Participate in clinical discussions, team meetings, and patient/family conferences, utilizing strong assessment and documentation skills.
Requirements
  • Licensed as an RN with the College of Nurses of Ontario, in good standing.
  • BScN and CPMHN(C) preferred, with 2+ years recent experience working with mood and anxiety patients.
  • Mental Health Nursing certificate preferred, with 1 year in Charge Nurse role.
  • CPR/Basic rescuer certification, with strong assessment and documentation skills.
  • Skilled in the treatment of psychiatric disorders, including PTSD, suicide prevention, and the management of aggressive behaviour.
  • Working knowledge of Mental Health Act, community mental health resources, and documentation standards (CNO), and privacy legislation (PHIPPA).
  • Knowledge of CBT/DBT is an asset, with experience in group facilitation and measurement-based care.
  • Proven excellence in communication, problem solving, conflict resolution, and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and function effectively in a demanding environment.
