Job Title: Occupational Therapist, Low Vision Specialist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Occupational Therapist, Low Vision Specialist to join our team at Vision Loss Rehabilitation Canada. As a key member of our rehabilitation team, you will work closely with individuals who are blind or partially sighted, providing training and support to help them develop or restore activities of daily living skills, promote independence, enhance safety and mobility.

Key Responsibilities:

* Conduct functional low vision assessments to identify areas of need and develop personalized plans for each client
* Teach individuals with partial sight how to maximize residual vision and adapt to their visual impairment
* Recommend and train in the use of optical and non-optical aids to enhance daily living skills
* Educate individuals about their eye condition and vision health, providing them with the knowledge and skills they need to manage their condition effectively
* Refer individuals to other internal and external services as needed
* Handle public inquiries regarding vision health and low vision services

Requirements:

* Master of Occupational Therapy Degree
* Current practicing member of the designated provincial Occupational Therapy regulatory body
* Knowledge of normal and abnormal early childhood development
* 3 or more years' experience working with children with vision loss as well as children with additional disabling conditions is an asset
* A valid driver's license is required
* Current clean child abuse registry and criminal records check
