About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Line Cook to join our team at Hook Line & Sinker. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking complete meals and individual dishes to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Food Preparation and Service
    • Determine the size of food portions and costs to ensure efficient food preparation and minimize waste.
    • Requisition food and kitchen supplies to maintain a well-stocked kitchen.
    • Prepare and cook complete meals or individual dishes and foods to meet customer demands.
    • Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances to ensure their safety and satisfaction.
  • Kitchen Maintenance and Organization
    • Inspect kitchens and food service areas to ensure cleanliness and adherence to health and safety standards.
    • Train staff in preparation, cooking, and handling of food to maintain high standards.
    • Maintain inventory and records of food, supplies, and equipment to optimize kitchen operations.
    • Clean kitchen and work areas to maintain a safe and healthy environment.
  • Support for Newcomers and Refugees
    • Assist with immediate settlement needs of newcomers and/or refugees, including housing, transportation, and storage.
    • Recruit newcomers and/or refugees who were displaced by a conflict or a natural disaster.
    • Support newcomers and/or refugees with foreign credential recognition and provide mentorship programs.
    • Provide diversity and cross-cultural trainings to create a welcoming work environment.
  • Support for Indigenous People
    • Develop and maintain relationships with indigenous communities, indigenous-owned businesses, and organizations.
    • Provide cultural competency training and awareness training to all employees.
    • Facilitate access to Elders who can offer support and guidance to Indigenous workers.
    Requirements
    • 2 years to less than 3 years of experience in a similar role.
    • Permanent employment with 40 hours per week.
    • English language proficiency.
