Respiratory Therapist

We are seeking a skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team at Nova Scotia Health. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will be responsible for the initiation and management of mechanical ventilation and advanced airway management in all areas of the institution. You will deliver and manage the administration of oxygen and other compressed gases, aerosolized medications, and high humidity therapies. You will also perform and interpret related pulmonary diagnostic testing.
You will work as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team to help achieve physician goals for patients' cardiorespiratory status. You will assess, plan, deliver, and evaluate the effectiveness of respiratory care and airway management for patients. Other duties may include patient or staff education sessions.
About YouWe are looking for a candidate with a graduate degree from a recognized School of Respiratory Therapy. You must hold and maintain registration with the Nova Scotia College of Respiratory Therapists and certification in CPR at NRP and ACLS levels. You should be able to travel to other sites as required and have the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. You should have effective planning, organizing, and supervising abilities, as well as excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Adaptability and flexibility to adjust to the changing needs of the service and the program/facility are essential. Competencies in other languages, particularly French, are an asset.
HoursThis is a long-assignment, full-time position with 75 hours bi-weekly. The assignment is approximately 14 months, but dates are subject to change.
Compensation and IncentivesThe hourly rate for this position is $32.43 - $40.66. Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
