Island Health is seeking a Pain Management Specialist to join their team of 19 FRCP(C) anesthesiologists in Nanaimo, BC.

This role offers a unique opportunity to work in a coastal region with a diverse range of outdoor recreational activities and stunning natural scenery.

The Department of Anesthesia at NRGH provides services to a population of 160,000 and a secondary referral population of over 350,000. The hospital has 10 ORs in the main operating room and 2 ambulatory ORs used for ophthalmology and minor procedures under local anesthetic.

Surgical specialties at NRGH include General Surgery, Orthopedics, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Plastic Surgery, Urology, Otolaryngology, Oral-Maxillofacial Surgery, Pediatric Dentistry, and Ophthalmology. The surgical program completes approximately 13,500 surgeries per year, including 8,700 daycare surgeries and 4,600 in-patient surgeries.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct anesthesia care for patients undergoing various surgical procedures
  • Work collaboratively with a close-knit team of anesthesiologists and support staff
  • Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to quality improvement initiatives
Requirements:
  • Current ACLS, PALS certification required
  • ATLS certification desirable
  • Additional consideration given to candidates with fellowship training in Regional Anesthesia, Obstetrical Anesthesia, or Perioperative Medicine
