Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Grocery Department Manager to join our team at Fortinos. As a key member of our store leadership team, you will be responsible for driving sales growth, improving operational efficiency, and delivering exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the grocery department to achieve sales growth, budgeted profitability, and operational excellence.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve inventory accuracy, planogram compliance, and price integrity.
  • Collaborate with department managers to ensure optimal inventory levels, assortment, and shelf presentation.
  • Manage and maintain the SAP system, ensuring accurate and timely data entry and reporting.
  • Support the execution and maintenance of store programs, initiatives, and planograms.
  • Perform price changes, shift audits, and data strip maintenance to ensure price integrity and signage.
  • Manage in-store transfers and store-to-store transfers, ensuring efficient and accurate inventory movement.
  • Develop and implement business plans to achieve financial objectives, including wage cost, operational expenses, inventory control, and shrink.
  • Perform administrative tasks, including financial reporting, labor scheduling, merchandising, and bookings.
  • Recruit, train, and develop part-time staff, ensuring they have the skills and knowledge to deliver exceptional customer service.
  • Maintain and communicate company policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with Food Safety, Health and Safety initiatives, and the Union Contract.
Requirements
  • Minimum Grade 12 Diploma (advanced reading, writing, and mathematical skills).
  • ~2-3 years of retail grocery experience.
  • ~Previous managerial or supervisory experience an asset.
  • Exceptional customer service skills with a talent for building customer loyalty.
  • Knowledge of store systems skills (Telxon, CAO, and BDR) and computer skills (PC applications, Outlook, Excel) is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Food Safety, Health and Safety, and Company Policies and Procedures.
  • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including nights, days, afternoons, evenings, and weekends.
