About the Role: We are seeking a highly skilled Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team at the Royal Alexandra Hospital, one of Alberta's largest and longest serving hospitals. As a member of our interprofessional health care team, you will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care on our 31-bed PCU 33 unit, specializing in neurosurgery, ortho spine, and trauma surgical patients.
About the Unit: PCU 33 features 6 surgical observation beds, providing an opportunity for registered nurses to receive extra training on the unit. Our team works collaboratively within the collaborative model of care, with modified nursing care available on all shifts. LPNs work independently and under the direction of a Charge RN, directing and monitoring the care provided by health care aids.
About the Job: As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating comprehensive patient and family care on an acute surgical unit. This includes performing moderate to heavy work on a regular basis to ensure safe patient care and safety of unit staff. All staff are required to assist with mobilization of patients with various ambulation needs and disabilities.
About You: To succeed in this role, you must have completion of an accredited practical nurse education program, active or eligible registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA), and current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. Additionally, you should possess excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication, and priority setting skills, as well as basic computer skills. Two years of previous neuro/ortho/trauma surgical experience is preferred.
About Us: Alberta Health Services (AHS) is a publicly funded healthcare organization that provides essential services to over 4 million Albertans. We offer competitive salaries and benefits, including $65,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience.
