About the Role
The Accounting team at Brookfield Renewable is seeking a student to work closely with the team for the Winter 2025 term. The student will be part of a collaborative team of accounting professionals working together in the preparation, analysis, and presentation of financial information.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in and support the team in the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statement close process;
- Learn Brookfield Renewable processes and propose improvements;
- Review general ledger account activities to ensure accuracy and make corrective journal entries;
- Maintain and reconcile monthly general ledger reconciliations;
- Generate monthly financial reports;
- Prepare weekly bank reconciliations;
- Provide support to the Manager in various related activities;
- Provide quarterly audit support to auditor questions and requests.
Knowledge Required
- Currently enrolled in an accredited post-secondary program;
- Completed first year university studies in Commerce/Business Administration (preferably 3rd or 4th year with a concentration in Accounting).
- Financial/Accounting knowledge and preferably some familiarity in IFRS;
- Advanced knowledge of Excel;
- Knowledge of accounting systems like IFS or Blackline is considered an asset.
Note: Offices continue to be central to collaboration and Brookfield's identity. This position requires the employee to be on-site for a minimum of 4 days to perform most effectively.
