About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Strategic Financial Director to join our team at Colleges and Institutes Canada (CICan). As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for providing strategic financial leadership and oversight to ensure the organization's financial health and stability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement financial strategies and plans to achieve organizational goals and objectives;
- Provide leadership and oversight in all aspects of financial services, including planning, budgeting, accounting, reporting, treasury functions, procurement, and risk management;
- Ensure that financial functions are performed in a manner that protects the organization's reputation, safeguards its financial assets, and maintains its financial viability;
- Collaborate with senior leaders and maintain relationships to effect change and meet current and future needs related to financial services;
- Lead the modernization of financial processes and systems to ensure agile services in a high-performance team environment;
- Contribute to corporate planning, priority setting, and policy discussions as a member of CICan's Directors' Table.
Requirements:
- Minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience in managing financial operations, including direct experience in external audit, financial reporting, and financial and accounting systems administration;
- Proven track record of budgetary and fiscal responsibility, including development, planning, and implementation of financial strategies and processes;
- Strong leadership and organizational abilities, with experience in employee management, including recruitment, professional development, coaching, performance management, team building, and conflict resolution;
- Knowledge of finance concepts and practices, including cost accounting, budgeting and forecasting, business analytics, procurement processes and principles, financial administration and management practices and techniques, cash management and banking, investment fundamentals, and change management;
- Post-secondary diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Commerce, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience;
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation.
