About the Role

The Foothills School Division is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Interim Director of Financial Services to provide temporary support in leading the Financial Services department. As the Interim Director, you will work closely with the Superintendent of Corporate Services/Secretary Treasurer to ensure the effectiveness of the Division's financial and accounting systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, develop, report, and monitor the overall budget to ensure financial stability and growth.
  • Ensure that the Division's accounting systems operate within professionally acceptable standards, maintaining accuracy and compliance.
  • Liaise with external auditors to review and improve the audited financial statement and other financial consulting services.
  • Collaborate with Alberta Education on matters related to the audited financial statement, budget reports, and other required financial documentation.
  • Provide timely and accurate data and analysis to schools, departments, and the Executive Team to inform decision-making.
  • Lead the Financial Services Department with quality financial and accounting practices, establishing team goals and performance measures.
  • Foster positive relations within the department and the larger Foothills leadership team by facilitating conflict resolution and promoting respect, professional learning, and ethical leadership.
Requirements

This position requires an accounting designation (CPA) and at least five (5) years of directly related financial and auditing experience in a public or large financial organization. Experience working in the education sector is preferred.
