As a Disability Access Advisor, you will work directly with students to determine their eligibility for disability-related accommodations, establish necessary accommodations, and provide additional referrals to ensure students are appropriately supported.
This role involves regularly liaising with instructors and other service units to ensure implementation of accommodations. You will be guided by SFU's General Policy 26 and British Columbia Human Rights law, playing a critical role in ensuring students with disabilities receive fair and equitable access throughout their learning experience.
The ideal candidate has excellent knowledge of disability assessment, legislation, and the ability to assess relevant documentation in a post-secondary context. They possess outstanding oral and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively navigate conflict.
You will have a Master's degree in Counseling, Clinical or Educational Psychology, Post-Secondary Accessibility or a related discipline, and three years of related experience in areas such as working with vulnerable student populations in a post-secondary environment, student-facing developmental advising, or case management within Student Affairs.

- Outstanding knowledge of principles of intersectionality, equity, diversity, and inclusion in relation to accommodation models in the post-secondary environment.
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to initiate innovative and creative projects.
- Outstanding problem-solving and high-level decision-making skills.
About the Role
This position requires a strong team player who builds effective relationships with colleagues, initiates improvements to processes, and enjoys our fun, fast-paced, and supportive culture. Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required, particularly during exam periods. The salary for this position is estimated at $97,200 annually.
