Job Description:

Newdog Inc is seeking a highly skilled WordPress Developer to join our team in Calgary. As a key member of our development team, you will be responsible for enhancing and customizing our WP eCommerce plugin to meet the evolving needs of our business.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and maintain the WP eCommerce plugin, ensuring seamless integration with our website.
  2. Collaborate with our design team to create user-friendly front-end experiences using CSS, HTML, and JavaScript.
  3. Ensure mobile responsiveness and cross-browser compatibility across all web pages.
  4. Develop and maintain graphic assets using tools like Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
  5. Utilize SEO best practices to improve our website's visibility and search engine rankings.
  6. Integrate WooCommerce features when required and provide insights for potential migration or feature enhancements.
  7. Ensure compliance with WordPress coding standards and plugin development guidelines.
  8. Optimize website speed, security, and overall performance.
  9. Monitor site metrics using tools like Google Analytics and SEO plugins.

Requirements:

  1. Proven experience in developing, modifying, and managing WP eCommerce plugins.
  2. Strong knowledge of PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and MySQL.
  3. Experience with front-end development, including UI/UX design and responsive design principles.
  4. Expertise with graphic design tools, such as Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
  5. Familiarity with WooCommerce and its integration with WordPress.
  6. Strong understanding of SEO best practices, including on-page, technical SEO, and content optimization.
  7. Proficiency in using tools like Google Analytics and SEO plugins to monitor performance.
  8. Experience with WordPress REST API and hooks/filters for extending plugin functionality.
  9. Knowledge of version control systems (e.g., Git) and WordPress security best practices.
  10. Ability to troubleshoot and optimize performance through caching, code minification, and image optimization.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Familiarity with WordPress Multisite and managing complex setups.
  2. Knowledge of structured data (Schema Markup) for SEO optimization.
  3. Experience with tools like Elementor, LearnDash, or other relevant plugins.
  4. Ability to manage hosting environments (cPanel, SSH).

Job Type: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 3 months

Pay: $22.00-$27.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week
