Job Title: Food Service Manager

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Food Service Manager to join our team at Rollz Ice Cream. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our food service department, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.

About the Role:

The Food Service Manager will report directly to the General Manager and will be responsible for managing a team of 3-4 staff members. Key responsibilities include establishing work schedules, requisitioning food and kitchen supplies, supervising and coordinating activities of staff who prepare and portion food, estimating ingredient and supplies required for meal preparation, and ensuring that food and service meet quality control standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Establish methods to meet work schedules and ensure efficient operation of the food service department.
  • Requisition food and kitchen supplies as needed, ensuring timely delivery and quality of products.
  • Supervise and coordinate activities of staff who prepare and portion food, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Estimate ingredient and supplies required for meal preparation, taking into account factors such as menu items, portion sizes, and customer demand.
  • Ensure that food and service meet quality control standards, including taste, presentation, and timeliness.
  • Prepare budget and cost estimates, analyzing data to identify areas for improvement and optimization.
  • Address customers' complaints or concerns in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Maintain accurate records of stock, repairs, sales, and wastage, using data to inform business decisions.
  • Prepare and submit reports on a regular basis, highlighting key performance indicators and areas for improvement.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will require excellent leadership and communication skills, as well as a strong understanding of food safety and quality control principles. You should also have experience working in a fast-paced environment, with a proven track record of managing multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in food safety and quality control (e.g. HACCP, SQF).
  • Experience working in a restaurant or food service environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively with colleagues and customers.

Work Conditions:

This is a permanent, full-time position, requiring 35 hours of work per week. You will be expected to work in a fast-paced environment, with a combination of sitting, standing, and walking throughout the day. You must also be able to lift up to 25 pounds and stand for long periods of time.
