Job Title: Early Childhood Educator

Jolly Giant Childcare Ltd. is seeking a dedicated and caring Early Childhood Educator to join our team.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a qualified and experienced Early Childhood Educator to work with our team to provide a safe, supportive, and engaging environment for children in our before and after school programs. The ideal candidate will have a passion for child development and be able to work collaboratively with our team to implement programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Assist co-workers in housekeeping and cooking duties
  2. Bathe, diaper, and feed infants and toddlers
  3. Develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children
  4. Storytelling
  5. Synthesize the overall situation of the children and communicate the information to the parents
  6. Assist early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children
  7. Lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs, and taking children to local points of interest
  8. Assist early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping records
  9. Encourage children to express creativity through the media of art, dramatic play, music, and physical activity
  10. Engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs, and preparing crafts
  11. Guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits
  12. Prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods
  13. Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioral problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians, or supervisors
  14. Submit written observations on children to early childhood educators or supervisors
  15. Discuss progress and problems of children at staff meetings
  16. Knowledge of licensing regulations
  17. Attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children
  18. Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children
  19. Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security, and well-being of children
  20. Plan and organize activities for school-age children in child-care programs before and after regular school hours
Requirements:
  • College/CEGEP education
  • Experience an asset
  • Emergency child care first aid and CPR certification
  • First Aid Certificate
  • CPR Certificate
  • Criminal record check
