Nurse - Public Health Specialist

About the Role
Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a skilled Nurse - Public Health Specialist to join our team at Sunshine Coast Home Care Services in Sechelt, BC.
Key Responsibilities
- Utilize nursing knowledge and expertise to promote and protect the optimal health, well-being, and safety of relevant populations.
- Prepare and conduct clinics, provide related nursing care such as screening, health teaching, and immunization for recommended and required vaccinations.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, educational resources, and other healthcare professionals/providers to achieve excellence in health services and education.
Requirements
- Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- Recent related experience working in public health, communicable disease control, vaccine preventable diseases, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Valid BC Driver's License and access to a vehicle for local area travel may be required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Working knowledge of public health and population health approaches.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) Professional and Practice standards for nursing.
- Knowledge of principles of health education, health promotion, and social determinants of health.
- Ability to work within autonomous scope of practice and Nurse Independent Activity (NIA) practice standards.
- Ability to successfully complete relevant VCH required education.
- Ability to successfully complete provincial Immunization Competency Certificate (BCCDC) as required.
