Project Overview
The Woodfibre LNG Project is a significant undertaking located approximately 7 km west-southwest of Squamish, British Columbia. This project involves the construction and operation of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) export facility on the previous Woodfibre pulp mill site, boasting a storage capacity of 250,000 m3 and producing approximately 2 million tonnes of LNG annually.
Project Ownership and Management
Woodfibre LNG Limited Partnership is the proud owner of the Woodfibre LNG Project, a limited partnership formed between Enbridge Inc. and other stakeholders. Woodfibre Management Ltd. serves as the contract manager for the project, ensuring its successful execution.
Role Responsibilities
The Legal Counsel will be an integral part of Woodfibre LNG's dynamic team, reporting directly to the Vice President, Legal. As a member of a small, cross-functional team, the successful candidate will serve the diverse needs of the Woodfibre LNG project and Pacific Canbriam, a leading upstream natural gas producer.
Key Responsibilities and Requirements
- Provide legal support for the Woodfibre LNG Project, including regulatory matters, environmental compliance, and contract negotiation and management.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to develop practical and risk-balanced solutions.
- Prepare a variety of agreements, including regulatory matters, environmental and regulatory compliance, procurement, and contract negotiation and management.
- Have at least 7+ years of experience in commercial and natural resource-related law in British Columbia or Alberta.
- Hold a Canadian law degree and be a current member (or willing to obtain membership) in the law society of British Columbia or Alberta.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong work ethic, exceptional drafting skills, confident stakeholder management skills, sound judgment, and a pragmatic, effective, and creative approach to the in-house legal role. They will be a self-starter, able to quickly identify and prioritize legal and commercial issues, and work collaboratively with stakeholders to develop practical and risk-balanced solutions.
