Job Title: Managing Consultant, Ecologist/Wetland Specialist

Erm is seeking a highly skilled professional to join our team as a Managing Consultant, Ecologist/Wetland Specialist. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading environmental assessments and mitigation planning for our clients in the mining, energy, and renewables sectors.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Develop and lead field programs to assess environmental impacts and develop mitigation strategies.
  2. Prepare environmental assessments and management plans in compliance with federal, provincial, and territorial regulations.
  3. Perform project delivery activities, including survey field work, data collection, literature review, report writing, and developing recommendations for clients.
  4. Assist with developing environmental permitting applications and support proposal development.
  5. Work on multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring quality standards and meeting client expectations.
  6. Communicate with clients, regulatory agents, landowners, and subcontractors during field activities.
  7. Manage a team of junior and intermediate-level employees, providing mentorship and growing the Erm team from within.
Requirements:
  1. Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as environmental science, ecology, or biology, with a Master's degree preferred.
  2. At least 5 years of experience in environmental consulting, with a focus on terrestrial ecology and wetland assessment.
  3. Expertise in federal, provincial, and territorial regulations and guidelines related to environmental assessments and permitting.
  4. Experience with wetland delineation, classification, and effect assessment, as well as associated regulatory permitting.
  5. Strong knowledge of plant identification, including rare plant species, and soil surveys.
  6. Experience with terrestrial ecosystem mapping and project delivery.
  7. Relevant professional designations, such as P.Ag or R.P.Bio, and certification as an Authenticating Wetland Practitioner.
  8. Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  9. Valid driver's license and good driving record.
  10. French language skills are an asset.
