About the Role

As a Child & Youth Care Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting children and youth aged 7 to 15 who may be experiencing mental, emotional, or behavioral challenges. You will work closely with clients and their caregivers to develop individualized goals, action plans, and strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and group support to children and youth.
  • Collaborate with clients and caregivers to establish goals and action plans.
  • Facilitate community-based recreational activities to promote life skills development, independence, self-confidence, and social responsibility.
  • Identify health and safety issues for children and youth.
  • Maintain confidential client documentation.

Qualifications

  • One year of post-secondary education, training in child/youth care, or a related field.
  • Minimum one year of experience working with children and youth facing mental, emotional, or behavioral challenges.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with hard-to-reach children, youth, and families.
  • Knowledge of child development, transitional themes, and family dynamics.
  • Ability to maintain a client's safety in the community.
  • Successful completion of a criminal record check.
  • Emergency First Aid certification is mandatory.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination status will be required.
