Toronto, Ontario, Canada MiQ Full time

Role: Account Director

What you'll do:

We're MiQ, a global programmatic media partner for marketers and agencies. Our people are at the heart of everything we do, so you will be too. No matter the role or the location, we're all united in the vision to lead the programmatic industry and make it better.

As an Account Director in the Account Management department, you'll have the chance to focus on the following:

  • People Management
  • Creating and maintaining operational excellence in the day-to-day workflow of the Account Management team, including training and support with daily tasks
  • Establishing clear expectations of the role and responsibilities for Account Managers and/or any direct reports
  • Acting as the escalation point with internal team challenges with the Group Account Director or appropriate stakeholders
  • Identifying and providing coaching and professional development opportunities for Account Managers, Account Executives, and Account Coordinators and helping to identify any gaps in career development
  • Client Servicing & Relationships
  • Acting as a main point of contact with previously identified accounts and agencies, providing short-term and long-term strategies based on clients' business needs and challenges
  • Identifying and developing analytics solutions with your commercial lead for clients outside of traditional media to support MiQ's growth objectives
  • Acting as the key stakeholder with commercial lead, providing strategic guidance on RFP responses on accounts held by the commercial lead or accounts where the Account Director is the main point of contact
  • Overseeing the post-sales process, ensuring world-class servicing and output at every stage of the client lifecycle
  • Managing, maintaining, and developing strong relationships with key client stakeholders through strategic thinking and developing relationships as a trusted partner
  • Growth mindset for the account management function: seeking to grow accounts from small/new spenders into key accounts through excellence in execution, insights, and deep client knowledge, assisting the commercial lead in identifying new opportunities for increased revenue potential
  • Acting as the escalation point for troubleshooting client requests and the communication to all key stakeholders
  • Leading/supporting the development and presentation of quarterly client QBRs
  • Ensuring the fulfillment of SLA/MSAs where applicable through conscientious management of client and MiQ deliverables
  • Leading/supporting with annual SLA/MSA negotiations
  • Campaign & Insight Management
  • Overseeing and ensuring operational excellence across each stage of the campaign lifecycle, including insight reports
  • Supporting advanced troubleshooting requirements for the team and alleviating the trading and product teams from technical troubleshooting where possible based on industry best practices
  • Identifying and securing upweight and resell opportunities through strategic thinking and strong client relationships and understanding of their business challenges and needs
  • Thought Leadership
  • Acting as a trusted advisor to stakeholders, clients, and the team; sought out as a sounding board and industry expert both internally and externally
  • Honestly and proactively challenging internal/external stakeholders' ideas, systems, and tools – putting forward solutions to address pain points and drive improvements
  • Gaining deep knowledge of client challenges and working with the commercial lead (where applicable) to help solve and deliver best-in-class solutions
  • Ensuring continuous upskilling in direct reports on knowledge of MiQ products and solutions and digital ad industry knowledge and understanding
  • Innovation
  • Consistently suggesting novel approaches for all types of challenges; at the same time, helping to drive a culture of innovation amongst team members
  • Proactively seeking to pilot, validate, and improve new ideas or methods and being willing to take calculated risks
  • Sharing new ways of working with commercial and trading to drive operational performance and excellence
  • Strategy and Commercial
  • Working alongside commercial, tech, and product teams to scope out the business opportunity and commercial models with new channel partnerships
  • Working on revenue, profit forecasting, commentary on progress, and new opportunities
  • Identifying risks to business, right to play, and competitive insight to craft winning strategy
  • Being agile with the ability to pivot against fast-changing market opportunity

What you'll bring:

  • At least 5+ years of experience in the programmatic media and/or ad tech space
  • At least 3+ years client-facing experience working in a team environment
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and develop people in a junior to early managerial capacity
  • Client Services/Account Management/Sales Support/Ad-Ops background advantageous but not required
  • Strong hands-on knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and prioritize workloads
  • High attention to detail with a commitment to quality and accountability
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and stay organized in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to problem-solve, work independently, and identify potential risk
  • A can-do attitude to provide energy, drive, and enthusiasm
  • Alignment with MiQ's core values

We've highlighted some key skills, experience, and requirements for this role. But please don't worry if you don't meet every single one. Our talent team strives to find the best people. They might see something in your background that's a fit for this role, or another opportunity at MiQ.
