Job Description
This Scientific Liaison Specialist will serve as a scientific resource for Canadian experts in the field of Diabetes, Obesity, and related disorders. The ideal candidate will be responsible for responding to requests for in-depth, cutting-edge scientific information from the medical community in these fields.
The successful candidate will also gather feedback and insight from Scientific Experts and Thought Leaders to better inform our research and overall strategic direction. By facilitating scientific exchange between the academic community and Eli Lilly and Company, this role has the opportunity to shape the future of healthcare with information that addresses important clinical and scientific questions.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with the scientific community
- Provide deep and advanced disease state and product information to health care professionals
- Facilitate the work of the scientific expert when it aligns with our mission
- Connect thought leaders and scientific experts with other Eli Lilly and Company resources
- Respond to personal or electronic inquiries with accurate, up-to-date medical and scientific knowledge
Requirements
This role requires an Advanced degree in health sciences (PhD, MD, Pharm D) with 2-3 years of relevant clinical or therapeutic experience in Diabetes, OR MSc in health care/professional designation (BScN, PT, RD etc.), OR previous MSL experience and sound knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry.
Languages: English
Territory & Travel: This position is field-based with a preference for employee locations in the greater Edmonton area, including overnight travel commitments each month, as well as periodic weekend commitments.
Additional Skills/Preferences
- Intellectual curiosity and intelligence about the field of Endocrinology, Chronic Weight Management, and other related disorders
- Ability to critically appraise scientific information/literature
- Strong presentation skills, including the ability to comprehend large amounts of scientific content, and communicate in a clear, concise fashion
- Familiarity with the academic community and medical research
- Experience in professional networking with positive mutually beneficial outcomes
- Strong project management skills with an ability to work within teams to prioritize key projects and medical tactics
- Strong desire and willingness to deliver on key performance measures
- Significant clinical or research work in the areas of Endocrinology and Chronic Weight Management
- Previous Medical Science Liaison experience considered an asset
