Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Commercial Underwriter to join our team at Definity. As a Commercial Underwriter, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient and effective underwriting of commercial insurance policies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Underwriting and Risk Assessment
    • Assess and evaluate commercial insurance risks to ensure accurate and timely underwriting decisions.
    • Develop and implement underwriting strategies to achieve profitable growth targets.
  • Policy Administration
    • Manage multiple transactions within the policy administration system, ensuring accurate and timely processing of policies.
    • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of policy administration systems and quoting systems.
  • Customer Service
    • Provide exceptional service to brokers, ensuring timely and accurate communication of underwriting decisions.
    • Act as a point of contact for inquiries related to commercial property insurance.
  • System Expertise
    • Effectively manage multiple transactions within the policy case management system.
    • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of document management systems.
Requirements
  • Insurance Knowledge and Experience
    • Minimum 2 years of experience in commercial lines underwriting.
    • Strong understanding of insurance principles and practices.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with brokers and other stakeholders.
    • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to analyze complex data and make informed decisions.
  • Education and Certifications
    • Post-secondary education in a related field, such as insurance or business.
    • Relevant certifications, such as CIP or CPCU.
