About the Role

The Commercial Lending Analyst is a key member of the Your Neighbourhood Credit Union team, responsible for assessing and underwriting commercial lending transactions. This role contributes to the credit union's Commercial Lending profitability and growth by assisting in the ongoing management of a diverse portfolio of mid-market business relationships.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assessment and Underwriting: Assist with the assessment of financing proposals, due diligence, research, and credit applications, making recommendations that adhere to the credit union's policies and risk guidelines.
  • Portfolio Management: Coordinate with internal and external partners to facilitate the ongoing management of credit facilities, conduct credit reviews of existing members, and maintain annual reviews/renewals at or below targeted levels.
  • Client Communication: Communicate with commercial lending clients on a day-to-day basis, responding to questions and inquiries regarding products, services, and advice.
  • Market Analysis: Research and analyze market segments, monitor market conditions and trends to assess risk, and provide sound recommendations and justifications for credit proposals in light of detailed financial, business, and credit analysis.
  • Business Development: Work closely with the Director, Commercial Lending to generate quality new business and achieve expected revenue and portfolio growth targets.
  • Risk Management: Ensure all commercial files are reviewed on a regular schedule, and that all required documentation is in order; review loan risk and make short and long-term recommendations on files posing potential risk issues.
  • Client Service: Provide excellent client service to internal and external parties.
  • Enterprise Risk Management: Be aware of enterprise risk management issues as they relate to Lending Services and bring forward strategic and risk issues for discussion, review, and solutions to the Director, Commercial Lending.
  • Industry Knowledge: Stay current with general economic indicators and industry sector trends.
  • Policy and Procedure: Maintain a thorough knowledge of policies and procedures as they pertain to the operations of Lending Services.
Requirements
  • Experience: 2+ years of previous commercial lending and/or related experience.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in business/finance/economics or related disciplines.
  • Skills: Comprehensive understanding of financial statements and analyzing skills.
  • License: Must have a valid Ontario driver's license and reliable available vehicle.
  • Bondability: Must be bondable.
