We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse with experience working in alcohol and drug treatment and/or mental health treatment to join our team at Northern Health Authority.

Position Overview

Northern Health covers an area of nearly 600,000 square kilometers and offers health services in over two dozen communities and 55 First Nation's communities. We deliver hospital and community-based health care for a population of 300,000.

Salary and Benefits

The successful candidate can expect a competitive salary range of $41.42 - $55.91 per hour. In addition to the salary, we offer comprehensive benefit packages including extended health/dental and a municipal pension plan for part-time and full-time employees. Casuals have the option of paying for benefits.

Job Description

As a Registered Nurse, you will provide clinical nursing care within a recovery model of care. This role works with an interdisciplinary team and assists with the day-to-day delivery of services needed for the 'recovery model of care'. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of addiction treatment methodology and community-based programming, as well as experience working within a community setting with adults with a mental illness.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN or RPN registrant.
  • Two (2) years recent experience working directly in alcohol and drug treatment and/or mental health treatment.
  • Knowledge of Mental Health and Addictions Co-Morbidity.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working within a community setting with adults with a mental illness.
  • Knowledge of importance of relationship building, motivational and activation techniques.
  • Computer skills.
  • Good written and verbal reporting skills.
  • Good organization, time and general management skills.
  • Class V Driver's License and own transportation.
  • Current criminal record check.
  • Full understanding of the Community Care Facilities Act.
