Thompson Rivers University is seeking a qualified individual to teach SOCW 3540 – Indigenous People and Human Service as a sessional lecturer. The successful candidate will have a Master's degree in Social Work and a minimum of five years of related practice experience with Indigenous peoples and communities.

About the Position

This is a part-time, sessional lecturer position that will involve teaching SOCW 3540 – Indigenous People and Human Service via face-to-face delivery at the Kamloops campus. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and delivering culturally appropriate curricula, building student capacity for intercultural understanding, empathy, and mutual respect, and creating time and space for relationships based on respect as human beings.

Responsibilities
  • Teach SOCW 3540 – Indigenous People and Human Service via face-to-face delivery at the Kamloops campus
  • Develop and deliver culturally appropriate curricula
  • Build student capacity for intercultural understanding, empathy, and mutual respect
  • Create time and space for relationships based on respect as human beings
Qualifications

The successful candidate will have a Master's degree in Social Work and a minimum of five years of related practice experience with Indigenous peoples and communities. They will also have lived experience of Indigenous communities, excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, and demonstrated experience in integrating Indigenous knowledge and teaching methods.
