Job Summary

Fraser Health is seeking a skilled Rehabilitation Assistant to join our team. As a key member of our interprofessional care team, you will work under the direction of a professional nurse and in cooperation with physiotherapists and occupational therapists to implement treatment plans and assist in monitoring patient progress.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out designated components of a rehabilitative treatment plan under the direction of a physiotherapist or occupational therapist.
  • Assist in monitoring patient progress through observation and reporting to appropriate team members.
  • Perform various tests as assigned by PT or OT, such as the Berg Balance, Timed Up and Go (TUG), and six-minute walk test.
  • Record and report relevant data for interpretation by the therapist.
  • Prepare and apply therapeutic treatment modalities as assigned by PT or OT.
  • Provide functional skills training to patients and families in activities of daily living, mobility, and communication.
  • Assist with power and manual wheelchair mobility training.
Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will require completion of a Rehabilitation Assistant Program or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. You must also possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
