Job Summary

Mackenzie Health is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Perioperative Team Support Specialist to join our team. As an integral member of our Perioperative and procedure areas, you will perform direct and indirect patient care functions under the direction of a regulated healthcare provider.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform service functions in support of the Perioperative and Procedures Area, including preparing the area for surgery, stocking supplies, and performing direct patient assistance functions.
  • Transport patients and perform environmental support and maintenance services within the Perioperative and Procedures Area and adjacent work settings.
  • Perform cross-functional duties and other assigned tasks and duties consistent with the job classification, as assigned for the shift.

Requirements

  • Completion of a recognized program for personal support worker.
  • Current Certificate of Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) or willingness to obtain within 3 months of hire date.
  • Ability to speak, read, write, and comprehend the English language.
  • Ability to stand, stoop, walk, bend, lift up to 50 pounds, push, pull, reach, and climb without any physical discomfort on a continuous basis.
  • Knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and other relevant legislation.
  • Knowledge of the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System.
  • Knowledge of procedures for handling contaminated materials.
  • Ability to set-up and maintain equipment, tools, and instruments common to the Perioperative and Procedures Area environment, within scope of responsibility.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as an active participant with others in assisting with the delivery of care to surgical patients.
  • Proven attendance record.
  • Demonstrates understanding and complies with patient and staff safety policies and procedures that foster a safe and inclusive environment for all.
  • Ability to perform the essential duties of the job.
  • Effectively uses empathy in interactions with others and demonstrates behaviors consistent with Mackenzie Health's Commitment to Caring.
