Teacher - Class 5 Educator

St.Amant is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teacher to join our team at St.Amant School. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in providing individualized educational programs for students with developmental and intellectual disabilities.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement individualized educational plans that cater to the unique needs and abilities of each student.
- Collaborate with family members, coordinators, clinicians, and other team members to ensure a seamless integration of services.
- Provide direction and supervision to Instructional Assistants to ensure high-quality educational services.
- Work closely with Resident Care Coordinators, clinicians, and other team members to ensure coordination and integration of services.
- Develop linkages and communication with students' family members or advocates.
- Support others to function as effective team members and to achieve consensus decisions.
- Undergraduate degree in education.
- Certified as a teacher by the Manitoba Department of Education and Training.
- Formal training in special education is an asset.
- Previous experience teaching students with developmental/intellectual disabilities, as a special education teacher, resource teacher, or regular classroom teacher.
- Previous experience in an interdisciplinary school environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a participatory team approach.
- Current knowledge concerning theory and practice relevant to the education of persons with developmental/intellectual disabilities.
- Knowledge of the history of education and support services for people with disabilities and current trends, philosophies, and practices concerning their care, education, and lifestyles.
- Understanding of or support for the application of interdisciplinary teamwork practices within the field of education.
