Job Summary

St.Amant is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teacher to join our team at St.Amant School. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in providing individualized educational programs for students with developmental and intellectual disabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement individualized educational plans that cater to the unique needs and abilities of each student.
  • Collaborate with family members, coordinators, clinicians, and other team members to ensure a seamless integration of services.
  • Provide direction and supervision to Instructional Assistants to ensure high-quality educational services.
  • Work closely with Resident Care Coordinators, clinicians, and other team members to ensure coordination and integration of services.
  • Develop linkages and communication with students' family members or advocates.
  • Support others to function as effective team members and to achieve consensus decisions.
Requirements
  • Undergraduate degree in education.
  • Certified as a teacher by the Manitoba Department of Education and Training.
  • Formal training in special education is an asset.
  • Previous experience teaching students with developmental/intellectual disabilities, as a special education teacher, resource teacher, or regular classroom teacher.
  • Previous experience in an interdisciplinary school environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a participatory team approach.
  • Current knowledge concerning theory and practice relevant to the education of persons with developmental/intellectual disabilities.
  • Knowledge of the history of education and support services for people with disabilities and current trends, philosophies, and practices concerning their care, education, and lifestyles.
  • Understanding of or support for the application of interdisciplinary teamwork practices within the field of education.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills.
