Job SummaryWe are seeking a qualified Teacher to join our interdisciplinary team at the St.Amant School. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating individualized educational programs for small groups of students, in accordance with provincial legislation and St.Amant's mission and philosophy.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement individualized educational plans for students with developmental disabilities and autism
- Collaborate with family members, coordinators, clinicians, and other team members to ensure student-centered care and education
- Provide direction and supervision to Instructional Assistants to ensure individualized and developmentally appropriate services
- Work closely with Resident Care Coordinators, clinicians, and other team members to ensure coordination and integration of services
- Develop linkages and communication with students' family members or advocates
- Support others to function as effective team members and achieve consensus decisions
- Incorporate outcome evaluation within the delivery of all services
- Undergraduate degree in education
- Certified as a teacher by the Manitoba Department of Education and Training
- Formal training in special education is an asset
- Previous experience teaching students with developmental/intellectual disabilities, as a special education teacher, resource teacher, or regular classroom teacher
- Previous experience in an interdisciplinary school environment
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a participatory team approach
- Current knowledge concerning theory and practice relevant to the education of persons with developmental/intellectual disabilities
- Knowledge of the history of education and support services for people with disabilities and current trends, philosophies, and practices concerning their care, education, and lifestyles
- Understanding of or support for the application of interdisciplinary teamwork practices within the field of education
- Excellent written and verbal skills
St.Amant is a bilingual organization, and proficiency in both official languages (French/English) would be considered an asset. As a condition of employment, successful candidates will be required to provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening, Adult Abuse Registry Check, Child Abuse Registry Check, and Prior Contact Check.
