The Opportunity
We are seeking a Medical Assistant to join our team. This entry-level position is ideal for individuals interested in exploring the field of healthcare and gaining relevant experience. As a Medical Assistant, you will be responsible for providing excellent customer service, working collaboratively with our team, and developing your skills in a dynamic and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Register patients administratively, including reception, scheduling, and collecting payments
- Prepare patients clinically, including hosting them into the exam room and performing triage
- Apply scripts, scenarios, and clinical skills as required
- Utilize our Electronic Medical Record system (EMR Advantage) effectively
- Ensure consistent inventory levels through daily stocking of exam rooms and other areas
- Maintain a clean and quiet environment by cleaning and sanitizing exam rooms, foyers, and bathrooms
- Perform opening and closing procedures of the clinic
- Record and document management, as well as other administrative duties as assigned
- Opportunity to train in one or more specialty programs, including Travel Medicine, Allergy Testing, Foot Care, and Wellbaby, following a 3-month probationary review
Requirements
- 1-2 years of post-secondary education in a related field, or equivalent work experience
- Undergraduate or bachelor's degree in health science, Kinesiology, General Science, or Arts is considered an asset
- Six months to one year of experience in a customer service environment, retail or hospitality
- Excellent communication skills in English, with other languages considered an asset
- Committed, reliable, and flexible with regards to scheduling of shifts, days, evenings, and weekends
- Flexible with regards to working at multiple clinic/office locations within the Ottawa Region
- Passionate about personal learning, training, and ongoing development
- Must be permanently eligible to work in Canada, or have a Work Permit valid beyond 6 months
