Job Summary

The University Health Network is seeking a highly skilled Registered Practical Nurse to join our Hemodialysis Unit. As a key member of our inter-professional team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and ensuring the smooth operation of our hemodialysis services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Initiate, monitor, and discontinue hemodialysis treatments for patients
  • Conduct patient assessments, health teaching, and family counseling
  • Set up, monitor, and troubleshoot hemodialysis machines
  • Respond to rapid changes in patient hemodynamic status
  • Participate in quality improvement and research projects

Requirements

  • Completion of a Registered Practical Nursing program
  • Current certificate of registration in good standing from the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification
  • Medication course for RPNs
  • Nephrology 1 and 2 courses
  • Health Assessment/Physical Assessment course (asset)
  • Minimum 5 years medical/surgical acute care nursing experience
  • Minimum 3 years of hemodialysis experience
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Strong team building and conflict resolution skills
