We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technologist to join our team in the Genetics department at the Nova Scotia Health Authority.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing various anatomical pathology services under the direction of specialist Anatomical Pathologists and Charge Pathologists' Assistants. This role involves working in a fast-paced environment, handling specimens, conducting dissections, and providing high-quality results.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Performing histology laboratory tasks, including embedding, sectioning, and staining
  • Working in the Gross Room and Post-mortem suite, handling surgical and autopsy tissues
  • Providing exceptional communication and presentation skills to colleagues and patients
  • Maintaining accurate records and adhering to operational policies and protocols
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Diploma or degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or a related field
  • Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technologist with the Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS)
  • Licensure with the Nova Scotia College of Medical Laboratory Technologists (NSCMLT)
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in Anatomical Pathology, preferably with gross dissection, frozen section micrometry, and staining
Salary Information:

The estimated salary for this role is $31.50 - $39.30 per hour, based on your level of experience and qualifications.

You must have strong knowledge of technical, scientific processes related to division, excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, and demonstrate adaptability and flexibility to work in a constantly changing environment.
