Job SummaryWe are seeking a Senior Category Buying Manager to join our team in Toronto, Ontario. The successful candidate will be responsible for negotiating with national brand vendors to purchase products for our Discount, Market, Wholesale, SDM divisions.
Key Responsibilities:- Meet with category directors to understand procurement needs and identify vendors based on a set of criteria/scorecard.
- Negotiate with national brand vendors for first cost targets and budget alignment.
- Participate in the Enterprise Joint Business Planning (JBP) process and collaborate with merchandising teams to plan cost-driven initiatives.
- Share information on new products and market trends with merchandising and control brand teams.
- Develop first-cost procurement strategies using levers aligned with the category playbook.
- Provide insight into new innovative sourcing and procurement opportunities tied to market trends and vendor landscape.
- Collaborate with category teams for quality-related issues and work with procurement support team members for new vendor setup and items requiring first-cost signoff.
- SOURCE NEW, SUSTAINABLE PRODUCTS AND VENDORS BY ATTENDING INDUSTRY TRADE SHOWS AND OTHER MECHANISMS TO BUILD BEST-IN-CLASS PROCUREMENT ACROSS LOBLAW.
- Conduct post-mortem analysis on vendor management and procurement effectiveness and find opportunities for improvement.
- Guide, coach, and motivate procurement team members and conduct performance reviews.
- Demonstrated success in a procurement or merchandising role with a passion for buying and confident negotiation skills.
- A strategic attitude with a track record of achieving performance achievements.
The salary for this position is approximately $120,000 - $150,000 per year, depending on experience.
