Marriott International seeks a highly skilled Sous Chef to lead our culinary team in delivering exceptional dining experiences. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will be responsible for overseeing daily kitchen operations, ensuring high-quality food products, and maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
Key Responsibilities
Ensuring Culinary Standards
- Manage kitchen shift operations, ensuring compliance with all Food & Beverage policies, standards, and procedures.
- Estimate daily production needs and communicate production requirements to kitchen personnel.
- Assist the Executive Chef with all kitchen operations and preparation.
- Prepare and cook a variety of dishes, either on a regular basis or for special guests or functions.
- Develop and implement new menu ideas and culinary concepts.
- Maintain purchasing, receiving, and food storage standards.
- Ensure compliance with food handling and sanitation standards.
Leading Kitchen Operations
- Supervise and coordinate activities of cooks and kitchen staff.
- Lead shifts, personally preparing food items and executing requests based on required specifications.
- Utilize interpersonal and communication skills to lead, influence, and encourage others.
- Encourage and build mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members.
Ensuring Exceptional Customer Service
- Provide services that exceed customer satisfaction and retention expectations.
- Manage day-to-day operations, ensuring quality, standards, and meeting customer expectations.
- Set a positive example for guest relations.
- Empower employees to provide excellent customer service.
Additional Responsibilities
- Provide information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, email, or in person.
- Analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
- Attend and participate in all pertinent meetings.
Requirements
High school diploma or GED; 4 years experience in the culinary, food and beverage, or related professional area. OR 2-year degree from an accredited university in Culinary Arts, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major; 2 years experience in the culinary, food and beverage, or related professional area.
Salary Range
$52,000 to $68,000 annually.
