At Fraser Health, we are committed to providing exceptional care to our patients and their families. As a Substance Use Recovery Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals struggling with substance use disorders.

About the Role

This position requires a Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN) with experience working in an addictions environment. You will be responsible for assessing patient needs, developing individualized care plans, and providing direct nursing care to support recovery and rehabilitation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess patient needs and develop individualized care plans to support recovery and rehabilitation
  • Provide direct nursing care, including medication management, wound care, and crisis intervention
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care and ensure continuity of services
  • Educate patients and families on topics essential to their health and well-being
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive clinical records to inform patient care and quality improvement initiatives
Qualifications and Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must possess:

  • A current practicing registration as a RN or RPN with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)
  • Completion of approved addictions or substance use training, or a substance use certificate program
  • One year's recent related experience working in an addictions environment with individuals with substance use disorders
  • Successful completion of St. John's Ambulance Safety Oriented First Aid Certificate and current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certificate (CPR) level C
