Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Community Mental Health Specialist to join our team at Fraser Health Authority in the Fraser Valley. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of patients and their families.

About the Role

This position will involve working collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams to provide person-centered care to individuals with mental health and substance use challenges. The successful candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Screens psychiatric referrals from various sources and determines service priorities
  • Performs psychosocial assessments and collects collateral information related to patients' primary support group, social environment, occupation, education, housing, finance, health service access, and legal problems
  • Develops care plans with final dispositions authorized by Emergency Room Physicians or consulting Psychiatrists
  • Provides general and crisis counselling to patients and their families, including short-term follow-up in accordance with approved treatment plans
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • A degree in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing
  • Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse and/or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)
  • At least one year of recent experience in acute or community mental health and substance use settings

Salary

The estimated salary for this role is $48.50 - $64.92 per hour.
