Supply Educational Assistant Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Supply Educational Assistant to join our team at the District School Board of Niagara. As a Supply EA, you will have the flexibility to determine your availability and preferred work locations, allowing you to tailor your schedule to fit your lifestyle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to students with special education needs across various age groups
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to establish a positive classroom environment
  • Offer comprehensive student support skills, including personal care, mobility, communication, and life skills
  • Utilize positive behaviour supports, including Applied Behaviour Analysis strategies
  • Manage classroom situations with poise and follow established board policies and procedures
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, staff, and others
  • Adhere to protocols and maintain confidentiality

Requirements:

  • Graduate of a College of Applied Arts & Technology in Educational Assistant - Special Needs Support (preferred), Autism Behavioural Sciences, Child and Youth Worker, or possess equivalent post-secondary training
  • Previous experience in an Educational Assistant role within diverse classroom settings
  • Access to reliable transportation and ability to work in multiple DSBN school locations throughout the Niagara region
  • Physical agility to stand/walk for extended periods and meet physical demands analysis when necessary
  • Preferred certification in Standard First Aid/CPR and Nonviolent Crisis Intervention or Behavioural Management Systems (BMS)
  • Provision of a satisfactory Police Clearance including a Vulnerable Sector Police Check from the last 6 months
