Security Officer, MAOC

Key Responsibilities

As a Security Officer at the Bank of Canada, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of our employees, visitors, and assets. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Managing risks to the Bank's information, personnel, and physical assets by countering threats with appropriate protective safeguards.
  • Responding to emergencies, such as fire alarms, health and safety incidents, and intrusion alarms, and assisting colleagues as required to maintain the security of Bank sites.
  • Operating state-of-the-art security equipment, including surveillance systems, alarm monitoring systems, and access control systems.
  • Escorting visitors, tradespeople, and Bank personnel carrying securities in high-security areas to ensure the safety of personnel and property.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Advanced knowledge of access-control, intrusion detection, and alarm monitoring systems, closed-circuit television (CCTV), and other related security systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and Word.
  • Sound knowledge of the Criminal Code of Canada (sections pertaining to the use of force and the powers of arrest).
  • A valid firearms Possession and Acquisition License (PAL) for restricted and non-restricted firearms.
  • Successful completion of a psychological and physical assessment, including the Bank's mandatory Officer training program (5 weeks, paid).

Language Requirement

Candidates must be fully functional (level 5) in both official languages, English and French, upon appointment.

Security Clearance

Candidates must be eligible to obtain Secret security clearance.
