We are seeking a highly skilled Transit Field Specialist to join our team in ensuring the quality and safety of our projects.
The successful candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of experience in general heavy civil construction and a strong understanding of CSI divisions, vertical and horizontal construction.
The Transit Field Specialist will be responsible for inspecting contractor's work, coordinating with project delivery teams, and preparing daily inspection reports.
The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to form and maintain good relationships internally and externally.
Responsibilities:
- Inspect contractor's work to ensure compliance with contract plans and specifications.
- Coordinate with project delivery teams to ensure required permits are obtained and in compliance.
- Prepare daily inspection reports and document installed quantities.
- Monitor progress of work and document any deviations from the approved schedule.
- Field verify and document installed quantities and assist with final quantity reconciliation.
- Inspect temporary silt fencing and other erosion and storm water control measures.
- Attend and assist with progress and coordination meetings.
- Coordinate with testing labs and project teams to ensure required tests and inspections are performed.
- Witness various field and/or factory tests and document results on furnished reports.
- Assist with reviewing pay applications.
- Assist with coordinating contractor's work to minimize and eliminate impacts to the project team, public, and other stakeholders.
- Assist with testing, startup, and commissioning of new systems.
- Assist in project close-out process.
- Assist project teams and engineers with evaluating contractor claims.
- Proactively review contract drawings, specifications, site conditions, and contractor's work progress to identify potential problems and assist project teams with developing solutions.
- Assist project teams with evaluating constructability issues.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in general heavy civil construction.
- Knowledge of all CSI divisions, vertical and horizontal construction.
- Proficiency with reading, understanding, and correlating plans and specifications.
- Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and database entry.
- Prior experience with large, capital improvement, public works projects.
- Meet all required or have all required provincial safety training.
- Bachelor's degree or technical diploma in civil engineering.
